Overview
The Great Eastern Institute of Maritime Studies(GEIMS) is a state of the art maritime institute sprawled over 18 acres of lush green land, Located at Tungarli, Lonavla, a hill station situated off the expressway midway between Pune and Mumbai,
GEIMS is a part of India’s largest private sector shipping company – The Great Eastern Shipping Company.
GEIMS has been assigned “CRISIL Grade 1” certification. This Grade indicates that the quality of education imparted for the above course at the institute with respect to the course objectives as stated by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) is “Outstanding” based on the best infrastructure, excellent classroom facilities, a e-library, science & electricity/electronic laboratories, IT facilities, Sports & Gymnasium.

2) English should have been passed with a minimum of 40% marks as a subject, either in 10th or 12th standard. | |

Electro Technical Officer Course Eligibility Criteria

A) Educational | 1) Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized Board with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in PCM. |
2) English should have been passed with a minimum of 50% marks as a subject, either in 10th or 12th standard. | |
3)Passed four year’s Degree including lateral entry, with 50% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and instrumentation or equivalent. | |

Graduate Marine Engineering Course Eligibility Criteria

A) Educational | 1) A Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechanical & Automation & Naval Architecture Engineering after attending a course of 4 years duration, from a UGC recognized University and or approved by AICTE, with minimum marks of 50% in the final year |
2) English should have been passed with a minimum of 50% marks as a subject, either in 10th or 12th standard or in degree examination. | |

Medical Eligibility Criteria
Physical Standards | 1) Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under the standard norm, with eyesight up to 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worst eye. |
2) NO COLOR BLINDNESS by Ishihara chart. Partial Colour Blindness is also not acceptable. | |
3) The D.G. Shipping Medical Certificate must be issued by D.G. Shipping Approved Doctors, under the specified medical examination requirements. | |

Registration Process
How To Apply
Step 1: Apply online at geinstitute.com for the course you want to join and pay the examination fees. Link for the website (GEIMS ADMISSION WEBSITE)
Step 2: Candidate will receive a link over email for an online examination that can be taken at any location. You will need to have a proper internet connection to do the same. The login details as well as other instructions shall be provided in the email. Please make sure you provide the correct credentials (email and phone number) while application. Link will be sent by our assessment partners.
Step by step admission process to join GEIMS:
Step 1: If you clear the cut-offs (mentioned in the Online Examination Section), you shall receive an email invite to appear for Personal Interview at either Mumbai or Lonavala. The details of the venue will be sent on the e-mail. The interview venue is decided in advance and is at the sole discretion of GEIMS. Candidates shall not be given a preference to select.
Step 2: Those candidates who are selected in the personal interview shall undergo a medical test with the company appointed doctor.
Step 3: A merit list shall be put out on the institute website taking into account past academic scores, online examination scores, interview scores as well as medical examination results.
Step 4: The candidates who make it to the merit list shall be asked to pay a booking amount to reserve their seat.
Step 5: After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued with a sponsorship letter on the basis of which they can avail loans. \
Step 6: The candidates shall receive joining instructions as well as other documents that they need to submit before they join.
Step 7: The candidates report on the morning the course commences at GEIMS, Lonavala. The reporting date and time shall be intimated to the candidates.

Placement Records
GEIMS graduates obtain full time employment from the same companies who took them on as interns for on board training.
Some companies do not participate in the Internship Programme but instead recruit students directly from GEIMS upon course completion.
