B.Tech Marine Engineering is a 4-year graduation course that a student can take to become a trainee marine engineer onboard a ship. Just like any other undergraduate course, students have to go through a placement drive to get placement in a Shipping company. GP Rating is a 6-month diploma course for the rating position on-board Ship that anyone can go for after passing out 10th or 12th. Even students with commerce as a subject in 12th can go for the course. To get into maritime colleges, there is not any common entrance test like IMU CET. However, students need to appear for the entrance exam and interview at different companies and colleges.Â

Even if you've finished your graduation, you can still pursue courses for a career in the Merchant Navy. If you have a degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, you can opt for an ETO Course to become an Electrical Officer or a Graduate Marine Engineering course to become a Trainee Marine Engineer in the Merchant Navy.
Graduate Marine Engineering is a 1-Year Residential Course where you will learn everything about ship engines and machinery on-board. You need to have a Mechanical Engineering Certificate and sponsorship letter before applying to any college for the course.Â
