4.2:- B.Tech Marine Engineering Medicals

Physical Standards	1) Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under the standard norm, with eyesight up to 6/6 in the better eye.
	2) NO COLOR BLINDNESS, Partial Colour Blindness is also not acceptable.
	3) The D.G. Shipping Medical Certificate must be issued by D.G. Shipping Approved Doctors, under the specified medical examination requirements.

6.2:- International Maritime Institute (Noida) with MSC Sponsorship

International Maritime Institute is one of the best colleges for B.Tech Marine Engineering situated in Greater Noida. Just like Maersk Company, MSC has signed an MoU with IMI Noida which means if you get selected by MSC you will be sent to IMI for the 4-year residential course of B.Tech Marine Engineering. 6.3:- Indian Maritime University Mumbai (MERI Mumbai) 

MERI Mumbai or IMU Mumbai is the branch of Indian Maritime University that conducts pre-sea courses including B. Sc in Nautical Science, and B.Tech in Marine Engineering. MERI Mumbai boasts 100% placement as they take generally very less students around 40 students per year. 

MERI Mumbai is one of the best colleges out there whether it is in terms of placement or education. 

Eligibility Criteria for MERI Mumbai:-

6.4:- IMU Kolkata ( MERI Kolkata ) 

IMU Kolkata is one of the best choices for the B.Tech Marine Engineering in India. Indian Maritime University, Kolkata is a government institution that selects its students as per ranking in the IMU CET Exams. 6.5:- Tolani Maritime Institute

Tolani Maritime Institute is one top choice when it comes to B.Tech Marine Engineering in India. It offers a 4-year residential course for 22.83 lakhs. In the final year, each student spends one semester working as an intern in a maritime organization. TMI conducts one batch per year that contains 240 students. To get into this college students have to get a good rank in IMU CET as well as in 12th PCM. After which they will be instructed to appear on an online test and then a personnel interview conducted by TMI itself. 

Eligibility Criteria for Tolani Maritime Institute:- 

Academic Qualifications	Qualifying in IMU-CET as well as TMI-SAT is mandatory for admission with a good PCM percentage as well.

7:- Education Loan for Marine Engineering

Just like any other graduation degree, you can take an education loan for a B.Tech Marine Engineering. However, some requirements need to be fulfilled before you apply for the education loan. 

PCM Percentage:-  To get an educational loan for B.Tech Marine Engineering your PCM percentage must be above 60% which is a minimum requirement for B.Tech Marine Engineering. If you don’t have a minimum of 60% in your 12th PCM, then you are gonna have some problems with the loan procedure.

Semester Result Matter:- You need to clear all your semester exams without any back as banks consider this as a waste of their money if you fail in any semester exams and you might get some letter from the bank when taking money for the next semester fees from the bank. 

CIBIL Score:- This is one of the main reasons why many people don’t get a loan from the bank. Even if you have a proper reason for a bad CIBIL Score even then banks would be reluctant to process your loan application. If your parent’s CIBIL score is below 600 then it’s a thing to be worried about. Your application has a high chance of being rejected by the bank. So having a CIBIL  between 600 and 749 is still a good score to apply for the loan.

9.1:- Chief Engineer

Let’s start with the post at the pinnacle of the Engineering Department onboard.

The Chief Engineer is the head of the engineering department, commanding and maintaining the working of every machinery on the ship falls under this post.

Chief Engineer must keep Master fully informed of all matters concerning the engine department that may affect.

9.2:- Second Engineer

The second Engineer is the second in command after the Chief Officer. It is the duty of the Second Officer to inform about the day-to-day requirements and work of the engine room to the chief officer.

• 2nd Engineer’s duties consist of carrying out watchkeeping as per schedule. 
• 2nd Engineers have to attend stand-by duties during arrival and departure ports. 
• They are responsible for cargo-related machinery and systems – for example, ballast water treatment systems, ballast system valves, and pumps, cranes or gantries, auxiliary engines, etc.

9.3:- Third Engineer

The third engineer is the person responsible for all auxiliary machinery, boiler systems, and feed systems.

• They need to take over the 2nd Engineer’s duties in their absence or incapacity.
• They must keep the Chief Engineer fully informed about any concerns regarding their responsibilities.
• The 3rd Engineer has to carry out watchkeeping duties as per schedule.
• They have to assist in the engine room during maneuvering.  
• They need to perform other duties as directed.

9.4:- Fourth Engineer

The fourth engineer is the first rank that you will be awarded after clearing your sea time and passing the MEO Class IV Exam.

• 4th Engineers must keep the Chief Engineer fully informed about any concerns regarding their responsibilities.
• The 4th Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer for carrying out watchkeeping as per the schedule and assisting in the engine room during maneuvering.
• The fourth engineer has to work on the main, auxiliary, emergency compressors, and air control systems.
• They also have to work on fuel oil and lube oil filters.

9.5:- Junior Engineer

Junior Engineer is the position you will land on the ship after getting placed in a shipping company. This is the only post where you will get maximum things to learn and everyone will teach you. You can quench your thirst for knowledge and run all your horses of curiosity.

As you are a trainee cadet, you will have a lot of doubts but once you get a promotion everyone will expect you to have a certain amount of knowledge, and nobody will expect you to ask questions about what you are supposed to know.
