B.Tech Marine Engineering Course Eligibility –

Education Qualification after 12th

Eligibility
  • 1. Qualified in Indian Maritime University (IMUCET) Online Common Entrance Test 2. Academic Qualification -
    (a) Pass in 12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%
Marital status
  • Unmarried.
Age Criteria
    Minimum age:
  • 17years
    • Maximum age:
  • For Male : General-25 years, OBC(NCL)-28 years, SC/ST-30 years.
  • For Female: General-27 years, OBC(NCL)-30 years, SC/ST-32 years.
  • The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session(The date of commencement may change due to pandemic).
Relaxations for SC/ST candidates:
  • There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
  • Relaxation of 5% in English marks will be applicable to candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.
Medical certificate requirement Physical Fitness
  • Candidates seeking admission to this Programme must be medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.
    • Eye sight:
  • There shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence.
  • Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes).
  • Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
  • Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara Test Chart.
  • Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in better eye and 0.33*(6/18) in other eye.
  • At the time of admission, candidates will be required to produce certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Education Qualification after Diploma

Eligibility Lateral Entry for admission in 2nd Year
  • 3-years Engineering Diploma in Marine/ Mechanical / Electrical / Electrical & Electronics, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course.
    • OR
  • 4 years Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% aggregate marks in the last year of diploma course.
    • OR
  • 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by D.G. Shipping (This will not be applicable to MERI).
    • OR
  • 1st year from the Engineering College in other streams like Mechanical or Electrical approved by AICTE with minimum 60% average marks.
    • OR
  • 3 years Diploma Course in the following categories, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course:
    1. Mechanical Engineering Stream: Automobile /Machine Tools and Maintenance /Plant Engineering / Production Technology /Production Engineering /Advanced Diploma in Tool and Die Making.
    2. Electrical Engineering Stream: Electrical Power System.
    3. Electrical and Electronics Engineering Stream: Digital Electronics / Electronics and Communications/ Electronics & Telecommunication / Industrial Electronics / Electronics / Electronics Production & Maintenance /Instrumentation/ Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
    AND
  • The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in the Degree/Diploma Course conducted by a recognized board or University.
  • The candidate should have completed the diploma within its stipulated duration of 3 or 4 years as the case may be.

Marine Fees Policy

  1. Fees Payment
    Fees are to be paid in total at the commencement of every running semester. However, for new batch admissions or for the 1st semester, the advance paid for confirmation of admission will be adjusted in the total of the 1st semester. The total fees for the semester applicable as per the program are to be paid before the commencement of the course.

  2. Exam Eligibility
    Students can appear in the midterm exam only after paying the fees. It is compulsory to appear and pass in both the midterm exams separately. The final sessional marks will be the average of both the midterm exams.

  3. Payment Method
    Fees are to be paid through ERP (Student Portal) only.

  4. Penalty for Late Fees
    Penalty for late fees as per GUNI_UVPCE_Marine Norms. (In the range of Rs. 300/- per day). Kindly make a note of it. In case semester fees are not paid on time, exams, results, and next semester admission will be withheld.
