  • The course has been assigned “CRISIL Grade 1” certification. This Grade indicates that the quality of education imparted for the above course at the institute with respect to the course objectives as stated by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) is “Outstanding” based on the best infrastructure, excellent classroom facilities, a e-library, science & electricity/electronic laboratories, IT facilities, Sports & Gymnasium.
  • Combination of both classroom learning, experiential learning and on-the-job training – preparing young and dynamic minds for a career at sea.
  • The Institute also offers Specialized Offshore Training to the Candidates aspiring to choose Offshore Oil & Gas Industry to make them eligible in this very specialized field on our Subsidiary Company’s (Greatship India Ltd.) 21 specialized OSVs & 4 Rigs. Other than this, our parent company (G.E. Shipping) owns 45 vessels (tankers, bulk & gas carriers).
  • Besides placement on our vessels, we have MOUs /Agreements with reputed Foreign Shipping Companies for placement/employment on their Merchant Navy vessels.

Diploma in Nautical Science Course Eligibility

Education Qualification

Minimum Requirements:
  • Pass in (10+2) or equivalentexamination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separatesubjects with a PCM average of not lessthan 60%
    • OR
  • B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics asindividual subject in one of theyear, with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year
    • OR
  • B.E./B. Tech. Degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year
  • Minimum 50% marks in English language at 10 or 12 Std or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University
  • Note: Selection of the candidates is subject to clearing the Combined Entrance Test conducted by Indian Maritime University as well as the internal requirements of GEIMS.

Age Limit:
  • 17-25 years on the date of commencement of the course.
Marital Status:
  • Unmarried.
Physical Standards:
  • Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000 and all its amendment as applicable to seafarers.
  • Aspirants to note that they have to undergo their medical examination with the company appointed DG Shipping approved doctor only. Any medical report acquired otherwise is inadmissible and the candidate will have to undergo a medical examination with the company appointed doctor.
  • If the candidates want to check their fitness before undergoing the process, they are requested to get in touch with us over e-mail/phone. The candidate will have to bear the costs of such a test and the admissions team will only help arrange for such a test.
Eyesight:
  • 6/6 in each eye without visual aids.
  • Normal colour vision.

Registration Process

Step by step admission process to join GEIMS:

  1. Apply online at http://geinstitute.com/ geinstitute.com for the course you want to join and pay the examination fees.
  2. You will receive a link over e-mail for an online examination that can be taken at any location. You will need to have a proper internet connection to do the same.
    • The login details as well as other instructions shall be provided in the e-mail.
    • Please make sure you provide the correct credentials (e-mail and phone number) while application.
    • Link will be sent by our assessment partners.
  3. If you clear the cut-offs (mentioned in the Online Examination Section), you shall receive an e-mail invite to appear for Personal Interview at either Mumbai or Lonavala. The details of the venue will be sent on the e-mail. The interview venue is decided in advance and is at the sole discretion of GEIMS. Candidate shall not be given a preference to select.
  4. Those candidates who are selected in the personal interview shall undergo a medical test with the company appointed doctor.
  5. A merit list shall be put out on the institute website taking into account past academic scores, online examination scores, interview scores as well as medical examination results.
  6. The candidates who make it to the merit list shall be asked to pay a booking amount to reserve their seat.
  7. After receiving the booking amount, the candidates will be issued with a sponsorship letter on the basis of which they can avail loans. We have a tie-up with State Bank of India for the loan process. The details of this shall be intimated to the candidates.
  8. The candidates shall receive a joining instructions as well as other documents that they need to submit before they join. Candidates are encouraged to read the instructions carefully.
  9. The candidates to report on the morning the course commences at GEIMS, Lonavala. The reporting date and time shall be intimated to the candidates.
