Placement:- Placement was excellent back in 2005-2008 and I believe it continues to be the same.

Waiting Period:- None

Training & Wellbeing:- The college is well designed with all sport facilities. Great Lecturers who have ample shipping experience. The college environment is very well suited for this kind of career.

Waiting Period:- Less waiting period..some companies try to give ship before results came out..

Training & Wellbeing:- Training facilities are very good. They give importance to each while teaching practical things..

B.Sc Nautical Science Course Eligibility –

Education Qualification

Eligibility 2023 - B. Sc. Nautical Science:
  • Qualifying in IMUCET as well as TMISAT is mandatory for admission.
  • The following criteria have to be met in order to be eligible for admission into the B.Tech. Marine Engineering degree programme at Tolani Maritime Institute:
Age Criteria:
  • Male candidates born on or after 1st September 2002 are eligible to apply for the 2023 batch.
  • In accordance with Government of India guidelines, there is a two year age relaxation for female candidates and girls born on or after 1st September 2000 are eligible to apply for the 2023 batch.
Gender:
  • TMI encourages the participation of both genders without discrimination.
Marital Status:
  • Only unmarried candidates will be considered.
Academic Qualifications:
  • You must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:
  • At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (P C M), and
  • At least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII
Physical Fitness:
  • The Institute has laid down detailed minimum physical fitness and medical standards.
  • The candidate has to meet these standards to qualify for admission.
  • You are advised to have yourself medically examined by competent doctors before applying.
  • This will ensure that you meet the minimum requirements, which in turn will avoid disappointment at a later stage.
Note:
  • Candidates for the B.Sc. Nautical Technology programme must have 6/6 vision in both eyes.

Note:
  1. For Student enrolling in the first year of Academic Year 2023-24, the estimated fees and Student Services for the three year programme will be approx. Rs. 19.13 lakhs
  2. Female students are entitled to a waiver of 50% in Tuition fee for each semester.
  3. Student Services Expenses are charged on actuals.
  4. Amount payable to Indian Martime University (IMU) is required to be paid directly by the students to IMU through IMU portal.
  5. Caution Deposit is payable on admission. The interest free caution deposit is refundable.
  6. Statutory taxes / levies, if any imposed, will be charged on actuals.
  7. Monies due for each semester is payable at the beginning of semester before due dates.
  8. Late fee @ 18% p.a. is applicable for monies received after due date.
  9. Value added courses undertaken by the students will attract additional fees.
  10. Separate charges would be levied at actual costs incurred by the Institute in respect of excursions, visits, medical expenses (to the extent not covered under insurance).
  11. Fees, Estimated Expenses and Caution Deposit are payable in either of the modes mentioned below –

– Demand Draft in favour of ‘Tolani Maritime Institute’ at any of the HDFC Bank branches

Medical Insurance:

TMI has facilitated an insurance policy at an annual cost of Rs. 1,500 per student. This policy covers the following:

1. Accidental death of studentRs.5,00,000/-
2. Hospitalisation expenses for studentRs.1,00,000/- per year
3. Accidental death of bread winning parent to cover fees of the student for remaining period of the course.

Other Charges:

Charges for medical expenses, educational excursion trips etc. will be charged as per actuals. Personal discretionary expenditure is the responsibility of each student. An advance for all estimated expenses during the semester shall be payable before the commencement of each semester.

Girl Students:

TMI is committed to encouraging girl’s participation in the maritime industry and therefore is very supportive of inducting girls into its programmes.
To this end, girl students receive a reduction of 50% of Tuition fees per semester.

Payment of Fees:

All fees are required to be paid at the beginning of each semester.
Management may take necessary action if fee payment is delayed.

Financial Assistance:

TMI degree programmes are approved by AXIS Bank, HDFC Bank, Corporation Bank, State Bank of India and Credila (an HDFC Ltd. Company).
However, candidates can approach any bank for financial assistance.

  • Please note that you will be required to upload the following documents in soft copy while filling the form online.
  1. Recent passport size photograph
  2. Class X mark sheet
  3. Class XII mark sheet (Candidates appearing for Class XII exam in 2023 may submit these copies after declaration of results.)
  4. Leaving / Transfer Certificate / Birth Certificate (For age proof)
  5. Passport (if available) Please note that Passport is mandatory for admission.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Each applicant must submit only one application form. Please do not send hard copy of the form to TMI.
  • Application/online test fee will not be refunded in any case, if the form is filled more than once.
  • The application form must be completed in full, in English.
  • The full Name and Date of Birth entered in the application form must be same as that appearing on your School Leaving Certificate.
  • Please ensure your postal address, including PIN code and telephone numbers (with STD codes) are correct and free of spelling and other errors.
  • Please note that Passport is mandatory for admission.
  • Please note clearing IMUCET is mandatory for admission.

Selection Procedure – B. Sc. Nautical Science

  • A successful career as a merchant mariner requires more than just a strong academic foundation. Other characteristics that are necessary include:
  • Communication skills Temperamental suitability for a sea career Leadership qualities Physical fitness

    Aptitude for scientific concepts

  • Tolani Maritime Institute’s selection process will test candidates on each of the above parameters by taking into account a candidate’s 10+2 PCM marks, IMUCET rank, result of the TMI online entrance exam, performance in an interview and satisfactory medical tests.

    Selection Process

  • Applicants shortlisted on the basis of their PCM marks and IMUCET rank will have to appear in online test. Candidates will be short listed based on performance in above mentioned tests and medical fitness as per DGS norms.
  • Online Test
  • The Online Test has Main Test with 80 Questions in four sections and a Behavioral Assessment.
  • The on-line test has a multiple-choice format covering Physics, Mathematics, Analytical and Logical Reasoning. The questions are of 10+2 level. There is one section each with negative marking in Physics and Mathematics. Duration of the test is 90 minutes.
  • On completion of the Main test consisting of above four sections there will be a behavioral assessment for 30 minutes.
  • Applicants are interviewed by a panel of educators and maritime professionals to assess the applicants’ communication skills, leadership potential, clarity of thought, maturity and reasoning abilities. The panel also looks for any extracurricular achievements of the candidate.
  • Medical Examination
  • Medical practitioners appointed by the Institute will examine all selected candidates for certifying conformation with the medical requirements laid down by the Institute.
