Waiting Period:- Almost 8 months waiting period after getting the placement due to COVID

B.Tech Marine Engineering Course Eligibility –

Education Qualification after 12th

Eligibility
  • 10+2/equivalent (PCM Average - Minimum 60% and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination).
Marital status
  • Unmarried.
Age Criteria
    Minimum age:
  • 17years
    • Maximum age:
  • For Male : General-25 years, OBC(NCL)-28 years, SC/ST-30 years.
  • For Female: General-27 years, OBC(NCL)-30 years, SC/ST-32 years.
  • The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session(The date of commencement may change due to pandemic).
Relaxations for SC/ST candidates:
  • There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
  • Relaxation of 5% in English marks will be applicable to candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.
Medical certificate requirement Physical Fitness
  • Candidates seeking admission to this Programme must be medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.
    • Eye sight:
  • There shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence.
  • Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes).
  • Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
  • Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara Test Chart.
  • Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in better eye and 0.33*(6/18) in other eye.
  • At the time of admission, candidates will be required to produce certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

IMU CET 2023

All candidates applying for B.Tech Marine Engineering Course also needs to appear for a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY (IMU). Please visit the IMU website (www.imu.edu.in) for details of this CET, and for the modalities of appearing for the CET.

Fees & Estimated Expenses for the first year of batch commencing August/September 2023 are as follows:

    Note:
  • Examination Fees & yearly Programme Fees to Indian Maritime University (IMU) to be paid.
  • Application fees for marine Engineering is non-refundable.
  • Fees for marine Engineering paid is forfeited, if withdrawn from the Presea courses.
  • Caution Deposits are refundable at the end of the Course after adjustment of damages, breakages, etc. if any.
  • Subsequent Semester fees to be paid Online prior to 1st May and 1st Nov.
  • Telephone, Medicals, Passport, U.S. Visa fees & Travel related to obtaining Visa Will be paid directly by students.
  • Medicals can be done at HIMT at an additional cost of Rs.1500/-. (Subject to Doctor availability)
  • Admissions are subject to meeting the mandatory requirement of course.
  • Company Sponsored candidates under the guaranteed placement category will be provided placement subject to he/she clearing all the subject prior to completion of the final semester and maintaining the discipline in the campus As per DGS Circular, Passport and INDoS are mandatory to join the course.
  • Cash/Cheque payments are not entertained.
