Choosing career after class 12th is quite confusing, as it opens different career options for you. Usually in commerce you study about business, accountancy and economics. Courses After 12th Commerce

1. Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com)

B.Com, one of the easiest option for commerce students, it offers you an understanding of accounting, finance, taxation, and business law. It is one of the top professional courses students choose after completing 12th commerce. With a B.Com degree, you might work as an accountant, auditor, or financial analyst. 2. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

If you are planning to work as a manager or start your own business and If you have just finished 12th in commerce, pursuing a BBA degree may be a great option. In addition, most colleges offer internships as well as project-work which is very useful to launch a career for a commerce student. 

3. Chartered Accountancy (CA)

This idea must have came in your mind if you planned to choose commerce. After 12th commerce, becoming a CA could be one of the best option. You will need to pass three exams: CPT (Foundation) , IPCC (Intermediate) and Final, which will test your knowledge in different commerce courses. Also it pays you really well at the starting of your job and over time it will also earn you respect and pays quite well.

4. Merchant Navy 

If you have landed on this page you must be intrested in merchant Navy. Well, if you want to work as a rating then you can join merchant Navy by completing a six month course called as GP Rating which will pay you upto 1-2 LPM over a period of time. 

If you’re interested in cooking, you might choose to join as a Chef and Steward. For that you need to complete six month course called as Certificate of Maritime Catering (CCMC). All you need is atleast 50% marks in class 10th and 40% in English. 

One of the better way you might choose is repeating your class 12th, if you’re not interested in commerce type of jobs. This will allow you to join as an officer or engineer in merchant Navy. If you’ve completed commerce with mathematics then you can also complete your physics and chemistry from open schooling and apply for IMUCET but remember there are some companies which don’t prefer open board students.

How to Join GP Rating and CCMC After 12th Commerce

After completing your 12th in the Commerce stream, you can still enter in the maritime job by applying to CCMC and GP Rating Courses

    1. Check Eligibility

      • GP Rating: Class 10th with at least 40% marks.
      • CCMC (Certificate Course in Maritime Catering): 10+2 pass and proficiency in English; basic cooking aptitude is a plus.

    2. Appear for  Institute Entrance
  • Appear for various colleges exam

  1. Gather Documents

    • 10th and 12th mark sheets, birth certificate, medical fitness certificate (required for both courses), passport‑size photographs, and proof of domicile.

  2. Submit Application

    • Fill out the application form on the maritime institute’s website such as TS Rahman, IMI NOIDA, NUSI GOA etc.

    • Pay the application fee (usually ₹500–₹1,000).

  3. Medical Examination

    • Undergo a mandatory pre‑sea medical check (to ensure fitness for sea service).

  4. Attend Training

    • GP Rating Course (6 months): Learn basic seamanship, firefighting, life‑saving, and engine maintenance.

    • CCMC Course (6–12 months): Master galley management, food hygiene, menu planning, and hospitality.

  5. Placement Assistance

    • Upon successful completion and issuance of the CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate), most institutes offer campus placement drives with shipping companies, ensuring you step aboard as a qualified Deck or Catering Rating.
