  • LBS CAMSAR is a premier post-sea Maritime Education and Training Institution offering a comprehensive range of courses for Merchant Navy personnel.

  • LBS CAMSAR was founded in October 1948 under the recommendations of the Merchant Navy Training Committee as Central Government premier post sea training institute for merchant Navy officers of Navigation & Engineering for giving skilled technical instructions to the Merchant Navy officers of Navigation and Engineering Department for Certificate of Competency. Named as ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri Nautical & Engineering College’ as a token of gratitude to former Prime Minster Late Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri for making the present site available. Renamed as Lal Bahadur College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research in 1994.

  • Marine Engineering & Research Institute, formerly known as Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (D.M.E.T.) was established by the Govt. of India in the year 1949 with its head office in Kolkata and branch office in Mumbai to train marine engineers. D.M.E.T. was renamed Marine Engineering and Research Institute in the year 1995.

Placement:- If you are working on your studies alongwith the required mariner's attitude. High chances that you will end up getting one. Just in case you don't make it through campus, do not worry and reach out to your seniors. They will guide you crack through off campus.

Waiting Period:- Better than other colleges.

Training & Wellbeing:- Has been outstanding in terms of training and wellbeing is taken care of at its utmost priority.

  • 10+2/equivalent (PCM Average - Minimum 60% and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination).
Marital status
  • Unmarried.
Age Criteria
    Minimum age:
  • 17years
    • Maximum age:
  • For Male : General-25 years, OBC(NCL)-28 years, SC/ST-30 years.
  • For Female: General-27 years, OBC(NCL)-30 years, SC/ST-32 years.
  • The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session(The date of commencement may change due to pandemic).
Relaxations for SC/ST candidates:
  • There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
  • Relaxation of 5% in English marks will be applicable to candidates who are native of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.
Medical certificate requirement Physical Fitness
  • Candidates seeking admission to this Programme must be medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.
    • Eye sight:
  • There shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence.
  • Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes).
  • Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
  • Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara Test Chart.
  • Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in better eye and 0.33*(6/18) in other eye.
  • At the time of admission, candidates will be required to produce certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Registration Process

How To Apply
    • The candidate is supposed to take admission in IMU Kolkata Campus first, they have to apply for IMU CET Please click on APPLY NOW button below to register for the same. After submission of the online application, the candidate will receive an email with details of the payment for the online entrance test.
After Securing good rank in IMU-CET
ONLINE COUNSELLING
Phase 1
    • All the selected candidates who have been issued with the IMU CET Rank Certificate will be provided with a portal through which they can select the Programme(s) and Campus(es) where they want to take admission.
    • Then candidates have to pay a fee of Rs10,000 as the counselling fee. If the seat is not allowed, then Rs9,000 will be refunded to the candidate. Otherwise, the fee is non-refundable.
Phase 2
  • Based on the Rank, social category of the candidate and the availability of the seat, a seat will be allotted to the candidate from the list of options provided by them.
  • Once the seat is allotted, candidates have to pay the Programme fee of Rs 15,000 to confirm the seat. Remember that this payment will be non-refundable.
