About

  • Located in Chennai, Tamilnadu India’s first Maritime Deemed to be University for maritime-related education, training and research.
  • The institute provides a one-year conversion course for Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architecture graduates to become Marine Engineers and is approved by Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, and Govt. of India.
  • After successfully completing the TAR Book competency examinations held at AMET University, the candidate will be eligible to obtain exemption for PART A Examination of MEO Class IV Certificate of Competency issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India.
  • The institute charges a fee of INR 6.5 Lakhs for its 1-year Graduate Marine Engineering course.

Placement:- Very poor placement and if you raise a voice for placement. College will warn you for resticate for course.

Waiting Period:- Not a single person got placement if any company come here for GME hardly 2-3 got placed. But partiality also here

Training & Wellbeing:- Ship in campus is good but teaching not up to the mark senior teacher are good here like chief engineer

Placement:- Hi everyone students who are intrested to join the amet is good for BSC nautical science and BE marine Engineering. They are not providing any placements for GME students, they have not concentrated on GME. Students who are intrested to study in Amet its better to take sponcership from outside.

Waiting Period:- BSC and BE students their waiting period is less, because MERSK is providing placements in Amet .

Training & Wellbeing:- ship in campus is good in AMET

Placement:- PERSONALLY, I WOULD NOT ASK MY JUNIORS TO JOIN GME IN AMET.OUT OF 160 in my batch no one got placed till now .

Waiting Period:- PLACEMENT FOR BTECH, BSC, AND ETO ARE GOOD BUT FOR GME WE HAVE NOT GOT ANY PLACEMENT YET.

Training & Wellbeing:- THE SHIPPING CAMPUS WAS GOOD OTHER THAN THAT NO PRACTICAL CLASSES WAS NOT UPTO THE MARK.

Graduate Marine Engineering Course Eligibility

Education Qualification: (As per DGS Norms)

Graduation in BE (Mechanical) Engineering / Naval Architecture with minimum marks of 50% in final year and with minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.

OR

The candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering after attending a course of 4 years duration from an UGC recognized university and or approved by AICTE, with a minimum marks of 50% in the final year, and a minimum 50% marks in English language at the 10th or 12th standard or in degree examination.

These candidates will not get full exemption from MEO Class IV and MEO Class II Certificate of Competency Exam are required to appear and pass the ’Heat Engines’ written paper of MEO Class IV Part ’A’ CoC Exam and ’Thermodynamics & Heat Transmission’ written paper of MEO Class II Part ’A’ CoC Exam.

English

  • English shall be one of the subjects with minimum marks scored 50% in class X or XII.

Age Limit

  • Not more than 28 years at the time of commencement of the course.

Note: -

  1. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Non–creamy layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category shall be relaxed by 3 Years.
  2. The maximum age limit for women candidates of each Category shall be relaxed by additional 2 Years.

Physical and Medical Standards

  • Physically fit and meet the standards laid out by DG Shipping.
  • Candidate should be physically fit for sea service under DGS standard norms, with eyesight up to 6/12 in both eyes or 6/9 in better eye, 6/18 in other eye and with no colour blindness.

    Follow these steps to get registered for (AMET) written and oral exam for GME Course.
  • The charges of application fee for the entrance exam is ₹1017.40

Interview :-

  • After successfully completion of written exam, (AMET) management will send you a mail on your respective E-mail Id and inform you for interview exam.
